After Irving Randall loses his weekly paycheck in a poker game with friends from work, he cant bear to tell his wife the truth so he tells her he was mugged on his way home. The tale gets complicated when she insists that he report it to the police. The police subsequently inform however him that they have arrested the mugger and return his money to him. Its only the next day when he finally figures out exactly what is going on.
